Consumer Advocacy Web Site Launched to
“Save Our Supplements”

Coalition to Preserve DSHEA offers millions of dietary supplement users a vehicle to stand up for rights to access safe, high quality supplement

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 17, 2004 – Today, the Coalition to Preserve DSHEA launched a Web site to Save Our Supplements (www.SaveOurSupplements.org) to ensure citizens continue to have the access to safe and effective supplement products that boost their health.

Seven out of 10 Americans take dietary supplements — such as vitamins, minerals, herbs and other specialty products — as a safe and natural way to supplement inadequate diets.

“Millions of American consumers safely and effectively use dietary supplements, and Save Our Supplements will offer them the avenue to voice their opinions and ensure access to these products,” said David Seckman, chief executive officer of the Coalition.  “While some lawmakers want to pass laws that will create roadblocks to supplement access, consumers deserve real health choices.”

The Coalition reaches out to dietary supplement consumers through the Web site to educate citizens about the threats to supplement access and simple actions they can take to Save Our Supplements, including the ability to:

  • Register their support for supplements with lawmakers
  • Alert the press by expressing opinions on supplement access to journalists
  • Become a voice for supplement choice
  • Share their supplement stories and personal testimonials
  • Supplement their knowledge on public policies and laws regulating the dietary supplement industry
  • Tell friends about the effort to Save Our Supplements

“We can’t let Congress limit the ability of the American people to purchase the supplements they rely on for good health,” Seckman continued.  “For those who believe consumers deserve continued access to purchase, for example, the glucosamine that helps give them greater mobility, or the vitamins that help them maintain a well-balanced diet, we urge you to get the message to Washington to Save Our Supplements.”

About the Coalition to Preserve DSHEA
